About the event
Krewe of Lit Brings Authors of Color to The Big Easy to Laissez Les Bons Livres Rouler!
New Orleans, LA (February 11, 2019) – Krewe of Lit will present its inaugural showcase of Black authors, taking place at the Algiers Auditorium from 12pm – 3pm in New Orleans, LA on March 30, 2019.
Occurring the same weekend as the Tennessee Williams Festival/New Orleans Literary Festival and the Saints and Sinners Literary Festival, Krewe of Lit offers black literature lovers an opportunity to meet and interact with established and up-and-coming authors from various genres in a steadily growing segment of the literary realm. The event will include book signings, panel discussions, raffles, and the unique experience that only New Orleans can bring.
Speaking on the need for this type of event, one of the featured authors Daneal Brown said, “I’ve been looking for something like this close to home. Everything is usually out towards Atlanta or further out.” The same sentiment has been shared by not only authors, but readers as well.
This year’s lineup of authors include Bria Felicien, Dr. Erin Wheeler, Mona, R.M. Smith, Diana W., Terence Pollard, Ivy Symone, Daneal Brown, E. Love, Raymond “Bamzy” Manson, Moranda Jane, Erika Latanya, Michelle Touro, Modern Watchman Jules Jacobs, Cedric Dent Jr., Chencia C. Higgins, and Sabrina B. Scales. Their works include African-American children’s books, educational non-fiction, erotica, mystery, romance, and fantasy.
Tickets are $15 and include food, drinks, and swag bags. For more information, go to www.dianawwrites.com/kreweoflit.
